WARSAW — Food, a scavenger hunt and kid’s pedal pull competition were among the activities for guests who attended the 23rd annual “A Taste of Agriculture in Kosciusko County: A Family Affair,” Tuesday, April 9, at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds.
Over 100 door prizes were available, including grocery gift certificates totaling $1,500 and products grown in Kosciusko County, according to a Kosciusko County Purdue Extension press release. T-shirts were also available for the event.
Families were able to work together to find the answers for an agriculture themed scavenger hunt, with prizes for children.
Several booths provided activities for children and adults, such as animals to visit. The Kosciusko County 4-H hosted a children’s activity corner, which provided interactive games so children would learn about the “projects and activities 4-H offers, including programs for science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and robotics,” said Purdue Extension in a press release.
According to the Purdue Extension, more than 20 booths were present to represent the county’s agricultural industry. Businesses, such as Irish Mudd LLC, a pig farm, offered free samples.
Other booths included Creighton Brothers, the Kosciusko County Master Gardener Association, the Kosciusko County Soil and Water Conservation District, Prairie Farms and Beachler’s Sugar Bush.
The Wawasee FFA held their annual pedal pull for children ages 5-10.
Guests also were able to try various free food samples in the Sheep Barn, which included beef, chicken, duck, pork, cheese, popcorn, eggs, salsa and ice cream. The free samples all came from products raised in Kosciusko County, according to the Purdue Extension.
The 2024 “A Taste of Ag” was sponsored by the Kosciusko County Agriculture Awareness Committee, Purdue Extension, Kosciusko County Farm Bureau, Kosciusko County Community Foundation and Farm Credit Mid-America. The event is hosted by the Kosciusko County Community Fair Board.
