Mentone and Burket Fire Departments responded to a house fire in Mentone on Sunday evening, April 7.

MENTONE — The upstairs portion of a home in Mentone was severely damaged after a fire on Sunday evening.

Around 6:50 p.m. Sunday, April 7, Mentone Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 111 N. Franklin St., Mentone. Burket Fire Department was called for a full assist shortly after Mentone was dispatched to the scene.

Heavy smoke and flames were visible.

The fire was reported under control around 7:35 p.m.

According to Kosciusko County Beacon GIS, the property is owned by Anthony W. Gilbert.

Four-Way Ambulance Emergency Service, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, and the Indiana State Police also assisted at the scene.
