News Release
WARSAW — The Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with OrthoWorx, will be hosting candidates for Indiana governor for a forum at the Warsaw Performing Arts Center, located at 1 Tiger Lane, Warsaw.
The event will be from 6-7:30 tonight, Monday, March 25. The forum is open to the public, and admission is free.
Additional supporting organizations include Kensington Digital Media, InkFreeNews and the Times-Union.
The chamber and its public policy committee initially invited the top four candidates based on a straw poll taken by the chamber and public policy committee. Brad Chambers, Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch and Eric Doden had initially committed to attend. Sen. Mike Braun declined due to a scheduling conflict. Invitations were then sent out to Curtis Hill and Jamie Reitenour.
However, as of this morning, Monday, March 25, Chambers has backed out and Curtis Hill has committed to attend.
No word has been heard from Jamie Reitenour.
The forum will be Republican candidates only as Libertarian Donald Rainwater; Independent Christopher Stried and Democrat Jennifer McCormick are unopposed in the primary election.
“The way we do all our forums is, at the primary, if there is a contested race — Republican or Democrat— we would host those candidates , for any position in the county. Mostly we focus on the county, but in this ase because it is such a big deal and there are so many running for the Republican nomination, we thought it was best to ask them to attend,” Rob Parker chamber president and CEO, stated.
The forum will feature questions asked by representatives of InkFreeNews, News Now Warsaw and The Times-Union.
A candidate forum for the contested county races — county circuit court judge, surveyor, coroner and the northern district county commissioner — is being planned for April 24-25.
