Shumaker Arrested For Allegedly Burglarizing Pierceton Residence, Stealing Firearms

PIERCETON — A Warsaw man was recently arrested for allegedly burglarizing a Pierceton residence and stealing firearms.
Todd Henry Shumaker, 39, 712 Southside Drive, Warsaw, is charged with unlawful carrying of a handgun and theft of a firearm, both level 5 felonies; and fraud, a level 6 felony.
On April 14, 2023, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office received a report about a burglary and theft occurring at a Pierceton residence. Among the stolen property were numerous firearms valued over $30,000.
On Sept. 15, 2023, a KCSO detective spoke with Shumaker at the Whitley County Jail regarding the theft. According to court documents, during the interview, Shumaker provided the detective with information on locating stolen firearms. He said he sold two stolen guns to a woman for $1,500.
Later that day, the detective spoke with the woman, who said Shumaker approached her in the spring of 2023 about selling guns to her. When the woman asked Shumaker if the guns were stolen, Shumaker stated they were not. The woman said she agreed to purchase three firearms for $4,000. Law enforcement verified the firearms were stolen during the burglary at the Pierceton residence.
Shumaker has prior convictions for burglary and possession of methamphetamine in Kosciusko County.
Shumaker was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on March 20, 2024, with a $10,500 surety and cash bond.
