Bremen Man Receives Three Years In Prison For Drug Possession

WARSAW — A Bremen man will serve three years in prison after law enforcement discovered drugs and paraphernalia in a home.
Joseph Wayne Shepherd, 38, 1771 E. 2B Road, Bremen, was charged with possession of methamphetamine with enhancing circumstances, a level 5 felony. Five additional criminal charges were all dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
Shepherd was sentenced in Kosciusko Circuit Court on Monday, March 11.
For meth possession, Kosciusko Circuit Court Judge Michael Reed sentenced Shepherd to five years in the Indiana Department of Correction, with two years suspended on formal probation.
In total, Shepherd will serve three years in prison and two years on probation.
Shepherd has 61 days of jail time credit, plus good time credit as calculated. Reed also recommended Shepherd for participation in Recovery While Incarcerated during his prison sentence.
On June 12, 2023, Indiana State Police and the NET 43 Drug Task Force went to a Milford residence to serve an arrest warrant. Shepherd resided in the home at the time. Upon searching the residence and a shed on the property, officers found drug paraphernalia, multiple plastic bags, meth residue, and marijuana residue.
In Shepherd’s bedroom, officers found 10 used syringes and drug paraphernalia. Shepherd has prior convictions for dealing and possessing meth.
