Harner Arrested On Drug Charges After Officers Respond To Overdose

WARSAW — A Wabash man was recently arrested on drug charges after officers responded to a report of an overdose.
Parker Scott Harner, 27, 1337 Willard Drive, Wabash, is charged with possession of a narcotic drug with enhancing circumstances and possession of methamphetamine with enhancing circumstances, both level 5 felonies; neglect of a dependent and possession of a syringe, both level 6 felonies; possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor; possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor; and possession of marijuana with a prior conviction, a class A misdemeanor.
On Jan. 22, multiple Warsaw Police officers responded to a drug overdose. The victim, later identified as Harner, was awake when officers arrived at the scene, but was disoriented. A woman at the residence where the overdose occurred said she went to a store with a friend and left Harner to care for two children.
According to court documents, the woman received a call from one of the children, who said Harner was laying on the bathroom floor. The woman went home and began performing CPR on Harner.
Upon searching Harner’s wallet, officers found a bag containing 0.5 grams of fentanyl. Harner said he did not typically use heroin or fentanyl, but was given some by a friend. While searching the residence, officers found multiple syringes, drug paraphernalia, meth, and 5.5 grams of marijuana.
Harner has prior convictions for possessing narcotic drugs, possessing meth, and dealing marijuana. He also has two active criminal cases for possessing drugs.
Harner was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Feb. 28, with a $10,500 surety and cash bond.
