Don’t Let Setbacks Derail Your Goal Of Quitting Tobacco
Dear Editor,
As we usher in the new year, I want to reach out to those who embarked on the journey to quit tobacco, acknowledging the challenges they may have faced. Setbacks are a natural part of quitting, but it’s important to know that it’s never too late to resume your journey toward a tobacco-free life.
Quitting tobacco is a commendable goal, and each step taken is a stride toward a healthier and more fulfilling life. If you’ve faced challenges, don’t be disheartened. Setbacks are opportunities for growth, not signs of failure.
Reflect on what triggered setbacks and seek support from friends, family or tobacco cessation groups, like Parkview’s Freedom from Smoking. Your journey is unique, and support is available. Celebrate progress, no matter how small, and let it motivate you to continue striving for a tobacco-free life.
As we embrace the new year, remember that every day is a chance for a fresh start. For those in Indiana, I strongly recommend using Quit Now Indiana, a free resource from the Indiana Department of Health. Professional counselors are available at 1-800-QUIT-NOW or by texting READY to 34191.
Wishing everyone courage, resilience and success on their journey to quit tobacco.
