Warsaw Man With Three Prior Theft Convictions Arrested For Stealing From Walmart

WARSAW — A Warsaw man with three prior theft convictions was recently arrested for allegedly stealing merchandise from Walmart.
Benjamin Scott Wells, 37, 308 W. Market St., Warsaw, is charged with theft, a class A misdemeanor; and theft with a prior conviction enhancement, a level 6 felony.
On Dec. 2, 2023, a Warsaw detective responded to a theft that occurred at Walmart on Dec. 1, 2023. An employee said a man, later identified as Wells, was at a self-service register when he failed to pay for two items. Wells was attempting to leave the store with the items when he was stopped by the employee.
According to court documents, while in the store’s loss prevention office, Wells allegedly began begging for the opportunity to pay for the items. He stated over and over that he could not go back to jail and left the store, leaving behind his identification.
Wells has prior convictions for forgery and making a false sales document. He also has three prior theft convictions.
Wells was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Feb. 23, 2024.
