2,000 Young Bowlers Expected At Fort Wayne Tournament
News Release
FORT WAYNE — The Indiana State United States Bowling Congress Bowling Association is bringing 2,000 athletes to Fort Wayne for the 2024 Youth Championship Tournament from Friday, March 1, through Sunday, April 21.
The seven-weekend-long event (excluding Easter weekend) will take place at Pro Bowl West and Thunder Bowl 1, with 500 athletes and attendees expected each weekend.
“One of the earliest events at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum was the 1955 ABC Masters, which saw the best bowlers across the country all converge on what was still a developing Midwest city, and to now see what Fort Wayne has grown into and to see youth bowling making such a strong impact across Fort Wayne and the state, truly shows that the sport’s future is incredibly bright and we are excited to have all of that talent on display in the weeks to come,” said Michael McIntyre, director of Fort Wayne Metro United States Bowling Congress.
Considering the overall economic impact the group brings to Fort Wayne, along with the potential for another repeat opportunity to host, it qualified as a recipient of a sports grant that Visit Fort Wayne manages on behalf of the city of Fort Wayne.
“The Indiana State USBC is thrilled to be back in Fort Wayne with our 2024 Youth Championship event,” said Brian Nunning, association manager of the Indiana State United States Bowling Congress. “Fort Wayne has many great bowlers and always supports our events with large turnouts. We thank Visit Fort Wayne, Fort Wayne Metro USBC, Pro Bowl West and Thunder Bowl 1 for hosting us this year.”
“We are excited to welcome Indiana State USBC back to Fort Wayne for another championship event,” says Jazmin Zavala, sports sales manager at Visit Fort Wayne. “Opportunities like this showcase Fort Wayne as a highly desirable bowling tournament destination, having a long history of professional and amateur bowlers from our community.”
