Democrat and Republican Races Set For May Primary

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY — State and local races for both the Democrat and Republican parties have been set for the May primary. The deadline for filing for office was at noon Friday, Feb. 9.
Republican Local Races
Local races for the Republicans will include Circuit court judge, county surveyor, county commissioner – northern district and county coroner.
Those candidates include:
Circuit Court Judge 54th Judicial District — Jack C. Birch and Matthew J. Buehler
County Surveyor — James Moyer and Ryan Prince
County Commissioner – Northern District — Marcia Baumgartner, Sue Ann Mitchell and Nathan Scherer
County Coroner — Tracy Cutler Wilson and Tyler Huffer.
Unopposed candidates on the Republican ballot are:
Clerk of the Circuit Court — Melissa Boggs
County Treasurer — Michelle Puckett
County Council At-Large, three seats — Delynn Geiger, Kathleen D. Groninger and Rachel V. Rhoades
County Commissioner – Middle District — Cary Groninger
Republican National And State Races
Races will occur for the nominations of U.S. President, U.S. Senator, U.S. Rep, Third District and governor.
Candidates are:
U.S. President — Nikki R. Haley and Donald J. Trump
U.S. Senator — Jim Banks and John Rust
U.S. Rep. Third District — Grant Bucher, Wendy Davis, Mike Felker, Jon Kenworthy, Tim Smith, Marlin Stutzman, Eric Whalen and Andy Zay.
Governor — Mike Braun, Brad Chambers, Suzanne Crouch, Eric Doden, Curtis Hill and Jamie Reitenour.
Unopposed Republican candidates are:
U.S. Rep. Second District — Rudy Yakym
State Senate District 9 — Ryan Mishler
State Senate District 18 — Stacey A. Donato
State Rep. District 18 — David Abbot
State Rep. District 22 — Craig Snow
Democrat National And State Races
There will be no Democrat races for local nominations, but there will be races on the state level. Those races include U.S. Senator, U.S. Rep. Third District and Governor.
Candidates are:
U.S. Senator — Marc Carmichael and Valerie McCray
U.S. Rep. Third District — Kiley M. Adolph, Phil Goss and Thomas A. Schrader
Governor — Tamie Dixon-Tatum and Jennifer G. McCormick
Other candidates appearing on the Democratic ballot will be:
U.S. President — Joseph R. Biden Jr.
U.S. Rep. Second District — Lori A. Camp
