WARSAW — A Warsaw woman will serve four years on probation after officers found over 60 pills containing fentanyl in her home.
Linda Lou Leeper, 60, 3351 E. James Way Court, Warsaw, was charged with possession of a narcotic drug, a level 4 felony. A marijuana possession charge was dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
Leeper was sentenced in Kosciusko Circuit Court on Monday, Feb. 5.
For narcotic drug possession, Kosciusko Circuit Court Judge Michael Reed sentenced Leeper to four years in the Indiana Department of Correction. The entirety of Leeper’s sentence was suspended on probation.
“I’m very sorry and ashamed of my actions,” said Leeper at sentencing.
Reed told Leeper he hoped she stayed on the track she’s currently on and encouraged her to continue staying sober.
On Aug. 25, 2023, law enforcement served an arrest warrant for Zachary T. Dustin, Warsaw, at Leeper’s home. The warrant was in connection to a fatal drug overdose which occurred in Benton County, Indiana.
Upon searching the home, officers found 64 pills, identified as 7.4 grams of fentanyl, in Leeper’s room.
Leeper told officers the pills belonged to her and said she took one a day. She said a person would come to the residence and drop off pills.
A jury trial for Dustin’s case in Benton County is scheduled to happen in late April.
