Warsaw-Area Artist’s Painting Chosen For National Spring Exhibition

WARSAW — Local artist Steve Creighton recently was notified that his painting, “Pottery with Miniature Roses,” has been juried into the 33rd annual Oil Painters of America National Exhibition to be held at the Gladys & Karl T. Wiedemann Gallery in Wichita, Kan., from April 5 through May 31.
Acceptance in the exhibition elevates Creighton to Signature membership within the Oil Painters of America. Creighton also holds Signature membership in the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society and Hoosier Salon.
Creighton’s painting was one of 200 selected for the exhibition from thousands entered. National awards provided during the exhibition total more than $100,000. Oil Painters of America Master Artist Sherrie McGraw is serving as juror of awards.
Oil Painters of America’s information explained that the exhibition’s goal is to assemble the finest display of representational oil paintings. Artists entering paintings were Oil Painters of America members and residents of North America. The jurying process selected paintings that reflect quality in draftsmanship, color and composition, emphasizing a diversity in representational style and subject matter.
Creighton’s studio is located in Warsaw. He majored in art and business at Valparaiso University as an undergraduate and continued his art education with graduate art courses at Indiana University. His passion is still life and landscape oil paintings.
