News Release
Warsaw — The Kosciusko Community YMCA announces the return of the “What Can I Eat” program. This nutrition-based support program is designed by the American Diabetes Association and will work to help those in the community living with type 2 diabetes eat their way to better diabetes control.
Throughout the six-week program participants will receive a free resource box and grocery gift cards that can be used to prepare meals and education on proper meal planning and budgeting. Each participant will also receive hands-on training to better manage blood glucose and will work with interactive content to learn to prepare meals. Classes will take place at the Parkview Warsaw YMCA at 12:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays Jan. 23 to Feb. 27.
Who Is Elegible
The “What Can I Eat” program is free for anyone in the community who is living with type 2 diabetes, has internet access and can receive SMS messages.
How To Register
Individuals can register for the “What Can I Eat” program online or in person at the Parkview Warsaw YMCA Welcome Center.
The YMCA is committed to ensuring everyone reaches their full potential with dignity. In 2023 the Y felt they did not always live up to that vision, but are excited to begin 2024 with a renewed dedication to making the YMCA truly a place for all.
The Y also recognize in order to be truly “for all,” it must lead with equity. That means working with local partners to identify and remove the barriers that historically have prevented some of those in the communities from thriving, while ensuring that each individual can access the unique support they need.
