News release
MILFORD — The annual Adult Reading Club began Jan. 2 and continues through March 30, at Milford Public Library. The theme is “Adventure Begins at the Library.” Come in and sign up to begin your reading adventure. The first prize drawing was Jan. 12. Samantha Bender’s name was drawn and she spun the “Wheel of Adventure.” She won a theater adventure — a theater ticket at the Blue Gate. Bender may choose the show she wants to see and has until the end of this year to use it. The ticket was donated by Riegsecker Marketplace in Shipshewana.
So far, 44 adults have signed up to participate. All you need to do is stop by the library and go to the adult circulation desk. If you are 18 years of age or older, you can sign up. For each book you read or e-book or audio book you listen to, you can drop a drawing slip in the container on the desk. Each week the library staff will draw a name at 6 p.m. on Friday. That person will be invited to come in and spin the “Wheel of Adventure” to determine their prize.
Afternoon Knitting
The Afternoon Knitting Club meets from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, in the teen area of the library. Bring your latest knitting project to the library to work on surrounded by other knitters. This group is very friendly and informal, so check it out.
Winter Story Time
Winter Story Time session begins at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7. Story time is for children ages 3-6. The themes are Let’s Hibernate!, Valentine’s Day, Ice, Snow, Dr. Seuss and Dinosaurs. Story time lasts about 45 minutes. Your child will hear wonderful stories, make simple, but fun crafts and share delicious snacks.
Story time helps your child develop good listening skills and gives them a good introduction to the library and how to find books they are interested in. If your family attends three of the six winter story time sessions, you earn a new book for your home library. New families are welcome.
