Girl Scouts Of Northern Indiana Gets $5,000 From Duke Energy Foundation

FORT WAYNE — Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana recently received a $5,000 grant from the Duke Energy Foundation to support the Girl Scout Leadership Experience in Cass, Fulton, Huntington, Kosciusko, Miami, Wabash, Wells and Whitley counties. The Girl Scout Leadership Experience focuses on building skills in four areas: science, technology, engineering and mathematics, the outdoors, life skills and entrepreneurship.
Among highlights of recent Girl Scout troop activities in counties served are:
- Keely Roe, a Girl Scout alum from Warsaw, was one of seven girls in 2023 to earn the Girl Scout Gold Award. She also received a $10,000 Gold Award Scholarship from Girl Scouts of the USA and served as a delegate at the National Girl Scout Convention in Orlando, Fla.
- Troop 00070 in Kosciusko County learned about making campfires safely at Camp Logan in November.
