WARSAW — An Akron man will serve four years in prison for dealing drugs to undercover officers.
Trey A. Combs, 26, 219 S. Pine St., Akron, is charged with dealing methamphetamine, a level 4 felony. Five additional criminal charges were all dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
Combs was sentenced in Kosciusko Circuit Court on Tuesday, Jan. 2.
Kosciusko Circuit Court Judge Michael Reed sentenced Combs to six years in the Indiana Department of Correction, with four years executed and two years suspended on probation. He also recommended Combs for participation in Recovery While Incarcerated.
Combs has 65 days of jail time credit, plus good time credit as calculated.
At sentencing, Prosecutor Brad Voelz noted Combs had three felony arrests and was also using drugs while out on bond. Combs also has pending criminal cases in Allen and Wabash Counties.
Defense Attorney Isaiah Vanderpool asked Reed to accept the filed plea agreement and sentencing recommendation for Combs.
Combs apologized for his actions and expressed his willingness to accept consequences. He said drugs changed his mindset and that he feels better physically and mentally since he stopped using.
Sometime in January 2022, the NET 43 Drug Task Force made a controlled purchase of 7.5 grams of methamphetamine from Combs.
