CLAYPOOL — Claypool Town Council approved multiple resolutions and agreements for 2024 during a Dec. 19 council meeting.
The council approved a salary ordinance for the town’s employees and an ordinance designating recognized holidays for 2024. Clerk-Treasurer Pat Warner said no change has been made to the list of holidays.
Agreements with Baker Tilly and the Kosciusko Economic Development Corporation for services in 2024 were also approved. Baker Tilly’s agreement is for $1,700 per month, and KEDCO’s agreement totals $5,500.
A policy from the state of Indiana for law enforcement was adopted by council. It is a uniform statewide policy on deadly force, which goes into effect Jan. 1. The purpose of the policy is to “ensure the public safety and general welfare of the people of the state of Indiana and to promote equity for all segments of society.”
In other business, the council asked Warner to determine where funds could come from regarding the purchase of two “Slow Down – Kids at Play” signs for the town. Replacement of a stop sign at the Section and Main Street intersection is also being considered.
Town Attorney Andrew Grossnickle also gave Council President Benny Stage Jr., Council Member Gene Warner, and Pat their oaths of office for 2024. The council, Town Superintendent Danny Warner, and Town Marshal Paul Mullins all also thanked Council Member Liz Heiman for her years of service to the town.
Heiman also informed citizens about the Kosciusko Area Bus Service, which offers curbside pick-up and drop-off at an affordable price. KABS is Medicaid approved and can take residents to medical appointments statewide. Those interested in KABS’ services can call (574) 267-4990.
The council’s next meeting is at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, at the Claypool Lions Club building.
