WARSAW — Employees at Lassus Handy Dandy, 777 Parker St., Warsaw, presented Stillwater Hospice with a check for $2,610 on Tuesday, Dec. 19.
The donation comes from a tradition Lassus Handy Dandy has as a corporation called “Be a Blessing,” according to Store Manager Lora Bridegam. The money is donated by local customers choosing to round up their bill when purchasing from the gas station. Donations were collected beginning Nov. 7 of this year.
Bridegam explained some of the donations raised this year went to an employee’s son, after the employee unexpectedly passed away.
Out of all three Lassus Handy Dandy locations in Warsaw, this store was still noted as giving away the largest amount of funds to a local nonprofit.
Bridegam spoke of how she chose Stillwater Hospice to receive the funds. “I have known Glenn for over 30 years and I know the good work he is doing. I have had family in hospice care and I know how important the work they do is to our community.”
Kosciusko Community Outreach Director of Stillwater Hospice Glenn Hall said, “This donation will go straight into caring for our patients and their needs.”
Lassus Handy Dandy owns several stores across Indiana and Ohio and through the Be A Blessing tradition, they were able to raise $42,000 to give away to different organizations.
