WABASH — A Thanksgiving Day traffic stop in Wabash County resulted in the arrest of a Kokomo man and the seizure of over 57 grams of a controlled substance.
Around 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 23, Indiana State Police Trooper Dustin Rutledge was patrolling US 24 near SR 115 when he stopped the driver of a blue GMC Acadia for unsafe lane movement. When Rutledge approached the vehicle, he detected an odor of cannabis coming from inside. The driver was identified as Keland Brown, 40, Kokomo.
A subsequent search of the GMC revealed over four grams of suspected marijuana and about 208 pills. The pills field-tested positive for MDMA/ecstasy and had a preliminary weight of over 57 grams. Further investigation showed Brown had a suspended license and two active warrants out of DeKalb and Carroll Counties. Brown was incarcerated at the Wabash County Jail for dealing in a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, driving while suspended prior, and possession of marijuana.
