WARSAW — DeLynn Geiger has announced his intention to run for Kosciusko County Council in 2024.
After attending meetings for the last five months, Geiger saw an opportunity to help the county by running for one of the opening positions for county council at-large at the end of 2024. There are three county council seats up for election in 2024, which are currently held by Kathy Groninger, Sue Ann Mitchell and Joni Truex.
Geiger enjoys helping the county in whatever way possible. He has lived in Kosciusko County for over 50 years. During those 50 years, he opened Geiger Excavating in 1974, now owned by his nephew. Through this business, he proved to be an asset and helped the county during the blizzard of 1978. He is now the owner and president of GTS, Geiger Trenchless Solutions, allowing for him to work in a more specific area than before. For years, Geiger worked on a law that would ensure safety and efficiency for underground workers. House Bill 1218 was put into effect on June 30, 2020, and required all underground utilities to have some location capabilities attached in order for workers to be able to efficiently work without hitting underground systems that were otherwise invisible.
Geiger thinks himself an innovator, being very business-minded, and wants to put his skills and experience to use on county council.
Geiger has served a number of different schools in Indiana. These schools range from Warsaw Community High School, to colleges such as Notre Dame, St. Marys and Purdue, helping them make decisions and save money when possible.
When asked how he would contribute these skills to serving on the council, he said, “I would use my strengths as a problem solver to ask questions of the county and ensure the taxpayers’ money is being used effectively.” He continued on about his goals, saying, “I hope to encourage department efficiency and draw on my experience and skills to find solutions.”
“I enjoy helping people and finding solutions to promote efficiency and hope to do that as part of county council.”
