WARSAW — A Warsaw man was recently arrested for allegedly battering a woman.
David Joe Compton, 46, 724 E. Fort Wayne St., Warsaw, is charged with strangulation and domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, both level 6 felonies; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On Nov. 16, a Warsaw Police officer responded to a domestic battery incident. Upon arrival at the scene, the officer saw a visibly upset woman with redness on her left cheek bone and on the area around her throat.
According to court documents, the woman said Compton attacked her, grabbing her and slamming her against a door. Compton then left the residence and the woman locked the residence’s doors.
However, Compton returned to the residence and yelled at the woman to open the door. Upon entering the home, Compton slammed the woman into a door, threw her onto a bed, grabbed her hair with one hand and placed his other hand around the front of the woman’s throat.
A child at the residence pulled Compton off the woman, who sustained a knot to her forearm during the altercation.
Compton was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Nov. 16.
