Teddy D. Leiter — UPDATED
Teddy Dewayne Leiter, age 81, of Akron, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2023, at 5:48 p.m. in the emergency room at Woodlawn hospital in Rochester.
He was born on Jan. 25, 1942, in Warsaw, in Kosciusko County, to Roy and Willodean (Brown) Leiter. He attended Claypool High School.
Ted married Karen J. Kreighbaum on July 8, 1960, at the Akron Church of God. They lived in the Akron area all of their life, celebrating 63 years of marriage.
Ted worked and retired from Zimmer in Warsaw, where he worked as a machinist. He enjoyed fishing, camping, building things, traveling and going to all of his grandkids’ sporting events. He attended Silver Creek Church of God in Silver Lake. He also helped the Earl-Love Funeral Home with funerals.
Ted was well known by many people for his loving, kind heart and wiliness to help anyone. He was a very humble man who shared his love and will never be forgotten.
Surviving Ted are his wife, Karen Leiter, of Akron, two daughters, Tammy Newman, of Akron, and Tracey (Jim) Moore, of Mentone; one son, Tim (Cynthia) Leiter, Leesburg; one brother, Jim (Serta) Leiter, Arizona; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Preceding Ted in death were his parents; two brothers, Pete and Ronnie Leiter; and a son-in-law, Don Newman.
Visitation and viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at the Silver Creek Church of God, County Line Road (6504 W. 1300S), Silver Lake, IN 46982.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. following visitation, with Pastor David Sullivan officiating and assisted by Pastor Tom Craig. Burial will be at a later date in the Silver Creek Cemetery.
