SYRACUSE — Syracuse Public Library will be closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 23 and 24, in observance of Thanksgiving. Patrons are encouraged to stock up before the closings or use the library’s digital resources — Libby and Hoopla.
Libby offers access to various digital e-books, audio books and magazines. Hoopla also carries these in addition to television shows, movies and music albums. Patrons can access both apps for free with their library cards.
Mahjong will meet at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20. Everyone, including beginners, is welcome to join the group. With the Thanksgiving holiday, there will be no Wednesday Mahjong Nov. 22.
Get a start on your Christmas presents at SPL’s knitting and crocheting club at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, in the upstairs sitting area. Bring supplies to craft holiday gifts like socks, dishcloths, etc. The library will have patterns on hand for knitters and crocheters to try. People will also be on hand to teach both crafts to beginners.
The library’s adult writing group — The Workshop — will meet at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21. Bring a piece of writing to share or listen to others share theirs.
There will be no teen or children’s programming the week of Nov. 20.
The library’s autumn food drive concludes Monday, Nov. 20. Bring any nonperishable food or personal hygiene items to the bins at the library’s two entrances. Collected items will go to the Syracuse Food Pantry and local little free pantries.
