Fort Wayne Annexation Plan For Data Center Progresses
Staff Report
FORT WAYNE — A proposed annexation by the city of Fort Wayne for a data center development project in southeastern Allen County is moving ahead after a vote Thursday, Nov. 16, by the Allen County Plan Commission.
The proposed data center campus would be situated on 892 acres immediately east of Adams Center Road, on the north and south sides of Paulding Road. The project is being put forward by an unidentified Fortune 100 technology company, which the city of Fort Wayne said in October could not yet be named because of the competitive nature of its industry. The proposed site was identified in a recently adopted comprehensive plan as a strategic location for this type of economic development project.
WPTA-TV/21 Alive News has reported, though, residents in the area are frustrated and fear the impact on their land.
The Fort Wayne Plan Commission will be next to vote on the proposed annexation, according to 21 Alive.
