ATWOOD — Pastor David Banning and lay leader Linda Stroup attended the Convening Conference and Ordination Service for the newly established Global Methodist Church Great Lakes Conference, which includes churches from Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan.

The conference established the beginning of the denomination’s Great Lakes Conference and took place Oct. 27-28 at the Crossroads Global Methodist Church in Washington, Ill.  Atwood Otterbein Church joined the Global Methodist organization on July 1.

Banning was ordained during the special service on the Oct. 28.  Leesburg Methodist Church Pastor Rob Seewald and Banning’s wife, Jackie, were also on hand to witness the ordination. Seewald and Banning are longtime friends, and Seewald participated in the laying of hands for Banning’s ordination. Leesburg Methodist Church is also a member of the Global Methodist Church.

Banning serves the Atwood Otterbein Church located at 306 E. Main St. in Atwood.  Sunday services begin at 9:30 a.m. and are followed by Bible study with Patsianne Harrold following the service.
