AKRON — There were plenty of Halloween activities in Akron on Tuesday, Oct. 31.
The Henry Township Fire Department held its annual costume contest before trick-or-treating started in the town.
Winners were selected in six categories. Taking first in the newborn to age 2 category was Hudson Madeford, with second going to Melanie Benzing and third to Olivia Stewart.
In ages 3-5, the winner was Elias Cook. Collins Prater and Taylor Ramsey were second and Kashton Gearhart third. Lincoln Morris won the ages 6-8 category, followed by Andrew Cook in second and Katey Hartzler in third.
For ages 9-12, Aubree Pierce was first, with Grant Prater second and Kinzie Utter third. Sheena Long won the age 13 and older category, with Audrey Long finishing second and Mathew Tilden third.
The Meinert family won the group category, with Clara Bogle and Alana Bogle finishing second and Lauren Metze and Andrew Rodriguez third.
Following the costume contest, people could enjoy Hartzler’s Halloween Bash at Hartzler Funeral Home.
The event consisted of a trunk-or-treat, kids’ games and food for everyone.
