More Details Released On Warsaw Man’s Arrest For Possessing Child Porn, Drugs

WARSAW — More details have been released on a Warsaw man who was arrested for possessing child pornography and drugs.
Aaron Walter Burchett, 35, 3762 W. Old Road 30 Lot 702, Warsaw, is charged with possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, a level 4 felony; possession of methamphetamine with enhancing circumstances and three counts of possession of child pornography, all level 5 felonies; possession of a syringe and possession of a legend drug, both level 6 felonies; possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana, both class A misdemeanors; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.
On July 25, 2022, an Indiana State Police detective received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about an incident involving child pornography.
According to court documents, Google reported a user account uploading 15 files containing apparent child sexual abuse material.
On Dec. 6, 2022, the detective received additional cyber tips connected to the same account regarding child pornography. Multiple IP addresses in these incidents were geolocated to the Warsaw area.
The detective obtained a search warrant for an e-mail account connected to the files’ uploading and discovered documents belonging to Burchett.
On March 1, Instagram representatives reported Burchett was engaging in a sexual conversation with a child.
On Oct. 26, law enforcement, including an ISP SWAT team, went to Burchett’s home to serve a search warrant for the seizure of electronics and other items.
In an interview with ISP detectives, Burchett admitted to sending child pornography via a social media app because “everyone shares on there.” He said he last viewed child pornography a couple days prior to the warrant being served because it “piques his interest.” He clarified and said he doesn’t like looking at small children, but teenagers.
Burchett also admitted to saving files containing child pornography.
While serving the search warrant regarding Burchett possessing child pornography, law enforcement found drugs, paraphernalia, syringes, a loaded shotgun, and handgun parts in Burchett’s bedroom. The drugs found in Burchett’s room included meth and 70 pills identified as legend drugs.
Burchett is classified as a serious violent felon, having been previously convicted of dealing meth in Kosciusko County in April 2010.
Burchett was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Oct. 26.
