Gerald “Gary” D. Konkle — UPDATED
Gerald D. Konkle, lifetime resident of Warsaw, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw at the age of 84.
Known to most as Gary, he was born on Dec. 14, 1938, in Warsaw, to the late Wilson and Fawn Konkle (Himes).
He was an Army veteran who proudly served from September 1958 through February 1962. After his years in the Army, he married Donna Shepherd on Oct. 19, 1963. Together, they had three children. He worked in maintenance for many companies in the Kosciusko area before retiring at Home City Ice.
Outside of his professional endea
vors, he found joy in various hobbies and interests, including golf and shuffleboard. He truly enjoyed playing card games, especially poker. He loved to play with his family, even during his stay at the nursing home. He also enjoyed watching sports, particularly the Cubs, although he was NOT a Bears fan. Along with sports, he also found excitement in watching war and Westerns.
Gary leaves behind an abundance of cherished memories for his friends and family. He is survived by his beloved wife: Donna Konkle, Warsaw; daughter: Michele (Robert) Heath, Etna Green; son: Jeffrey Konkle; grandchildren: Cassandra, Keryn, Matthew, Jayden, Ian, and Zachary; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; son: Larry Konkle; brothers: Sylvan, Thomas and Ronald Konkle; and sister: Sandra Belcher.
No services are planned currently. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
