WARSAW — We are incredibly thankful here at Warsaw Community Public Library for all of the fun activities we get to offer our patrons every month, and November is no exception.
Along with all of our usual kids’ activities, we have a special event at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, called Kids Entrepreneurship Basics. Local author Kelly Mager will be showcasing her new book, “The Founder’s Club,” with an interactive elementary-level program. Topics will include how to generate ideas for a business and what makes business practices successful. Jennifer Long, author of “Goldie and the Good Night,” will be here for a visit at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18.
We will be offering a couple of new teen events. A teen Uno tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 7, and a workshop where participants will be given a copy of a famous painting and encouraged to adapt it to their own style on Thursday, Nov. 16. Both events start at 4 p.m.
There will be an exciting opportunity for women, ages 16 and up, at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6. Jarod Osborne, founder of Peace Force and fourth-degree black belt in taekwondo, will be leading a workshop on self-defense for women. Participants will be given tools to avoid dangerous situations, confront boundary breakers and escape attackers. Please register in advance.
First Source Bank is back at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13, for a workshop on how to understand and manage your credit. There will be a very special event for adults at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20. Participants will relax with adult coloring pages, along with tea and hot chocolate, while waiting for a turn at a professional chair massage. Sign-ups for the massages will be at the door with slots available on a first-come, first-served basis.
At 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, there will be dementia support groups designed for those dealing with this difficult season of life.
Finally, during the week of Monday, Nov. 13, you can write a note of thanks to policemen, firemen and EMS responders in our community who keep us safe. Cards will be provided.
Let’s be thankful this month and celebrate.
