Syracuse Public Library — Offering Treats This Halloween
News release
SYRACUSE — Stop by the Syracuse Public Library from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, while trick-or-treating to collect prizes and candy.
The library will hold a Halloween Extravaganza for trick-or-treaters. Visitors will play games like ring around the witch’s hat, poke a pumpkin, knock the cup down, pumpkin golf and more while picking up prizes along the way. Before leaving, they’ll also receive candy.
To prepare for the evening, the children’s department will close at 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, and remain closed until Wednesday, Nov. 1. There will be no children’s programming on Nov. 1 as staff clean up after Halloween.
Friends Meet
The Friends of the Syracuse Public Library will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, in the library’s downstairs meeting room. This meeting occurs before the library opens, so attendees need to knock on the southernmost Harrison Street door near the staff parking lot to enter.
Game On
Teens and young adults can attend SPL’s video game night from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, in the Rosalyn Jones Room. Members play Nintendo Switch games and enjoy snacks.
Mahjong
Everyone is welcome at the Syracuse Public Library’s mahjong tables at 1 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays in the downstairs meeting room. Don’t know how to play? Seasoned players will demonstrate how it is done.
