Wallen Arrested After Allegedly Battering, Choking Woman

SYRACUSE — A Warsaw man was recently arrested after allegedly battering and choking a woman.
Shane Michael Wallen, 37, 1310 E. Island View Drive, Warsaw, is charged with strangulation and domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, both level 6 felonies; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On Oct. 4, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy and North Webster Police officer responded to a domestic incident near Dewart Lake. Upon arrival, officers saw Wallen, who said he hit a woman.
According to court documents, the woman said Wallen tried to kill her and grabbed her by the throat, throwing her to the ground. Wallen allegedly said the woman was the devil and that demons were talking to him.
Wallen then grabbed the woman by her throat again and forcibly choked her. Officers noticed the woman had cuts on her back and that her throat was very red and swollen.
Wallen refused to speak with officers about what happened.
Wallen was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Oct. 4.
