ETNA GREEN — The Etna Green Town Council adopted its budget for 2024 during an Oct. 10 meeting.
The budget totals $242,429 and is divided as follows: rainy day, $300; general, $182,445; local roads and streets, $13,390; motor vehicle highway, $34,333; park and recreation, $7,807; cumulative capital improvement, $2,300; and cumulative capital development, $1,854.
In other business, Paula and Blake Walls attended the meeting regarding a request to move power lines in the area of East Pleasant Street. The Walls are purchasing two lots, which are to the northwest of Gulf Stream. They told the council they plan on seeking approval from the Kosciusko County Board of Zoning Appeals to merge the lots into one, as they intend on building a barndominium.
The power lines the Walls would like to move currently go through the middle of the two lots. Paula said they would like to move the lines to one side of the property. Council said they would consult with Indiana Municipal Power Agency about potentially moving the lines.
Council also:
- Approved $327.36 in write-offs through TRECs, a program allowing counties to collect outstanding debts owed to local units of government by intercepting income tax refunds.
- Learned the exterior painting for the Etna Township Fire Department building is almost complete.
The council’s next meeting is at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, in Etna Green Town Hall.
