Kosciusko Foundation Gives $141,000 In Grants To 21 Area Groups
News Release
WARSAW — Twenty-one local organizations recently received more than $141,000 in funding from the Kosciusko County Community Foundation’s Community Funds. Funds are awarded three times per year.
Community Funds are awarded based on a competitive grant application process. Nonprofit organizations serving Kosciusko County can apply in seven areas of interest that include arts/culture, human services, civic projects, recreation, environment, health and education.
Lost Sparrows was one of this year’s grant recipients. Its proposal was for an online learning management system to build trainings and allow content to be shared quickly and easily on childhood trauma.
“As we work to support families in our community and help train teachers on the impact of trauma, we realized the critical need for an online learning management system,” said Darren Gagnon, president of Lost Sparrows. “The grant received from the Community Foundation will be used to provide quality training for those who need it most in Kosciusko County.”
Many other local organizations received Community Fund grants as well, including: Advocacy Links Resource & Advocacy Center; American Red Cross – Northeast Indiana; Baker Youth Club; Boomerang Backpacks; Brightpoint; Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana; the Center for Whitley County Youth; the Episcopal Diocese of Northern Indiana; Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana; Harrison Elementary School; the Honeywell Foundation; Joe’s Kids; Junior Achievement Serving Warsaw and Tippecanoe Valley; McMillen Health; Milford Food Bank; Northern Indiana Plein Air Artist Association; Silver Lake Conservation Foundation; Stillwater Hospice; Wawasee Area Conservancy Foundation; and YMCA of Muncie-Camp Crosley.
The next grant application deadline for Community Funds is Wednesday, Nov. 1. For more information, contact Alex Hall, vice president of programs, at [email protected] or visit www.kcfoundation.org/grants/community-fund-grants.
