WARSAW — A Warsaw man was arrested for allegedly battering a woman.
Jackie G. Kennedy III, 47, 803 E. Fort Wayne St., Warsaw, is charged with strangulation, domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, and domestic battery with a prior conviction, all level 6 felonies; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On Sept. 2, Warsaw Police officers responded to a domestic incident. Upon their arrival at the scene, Kennedy invited officers inside.
According to court documents, officers noticed Kennedy had blood on the left side of his face. Kennedy told officers three different stories about what occurred. Officers then spoke with a person who also had blood on her face.
The person said Kennedy was intoxicated and argued with a woman. Kennedy choked the woman, and the person grabbed a mug, hitting Kennedy in the head. Kennedy then wiped his blood on the woman and slapped her thigh. He also slammed the woman’s face into the ground and dragged her around the house. Officers noticed the woman’s neck was swollen and that she had a bloody hand print on her leg.
After being read his rights, Kennedy said he did not remember what happened.
Kennedy has a prior conviction for battery in February 2018.
Kennedy has already been arrested and released on his own recognizance.
