Staff Report
SILVER LAKE — A Silver Lake man was arrested for allegedly battering and threatening to kill a woman.
Oscar Garcia, 30, 4152 W. Hughes Drive, Silver Lake, is charged with intimidation with a deadly weapon, a level 5 felony; and domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony.
On Aug. 31, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a local hospital regarding a domestic violence report. Upon arrival, the deputy spoke with a woman, who said Garcia battered her after a verbal altercation.
According to court documents, the woman said Garcia hit her hand and face with a broom. He also kicked the woman and elbowed her in the abdomen. When the woman told him to stop, Garcia allegedly threatened to kill the woman and pointed a firearm at her head. He also threatened to kill law enforcement if they came to the scene.
The deputy noticed multiple bruises and small cuts on the woman’s body.
Multiple KCSO deputies arrested Garcia, who refused to speak with law enforcement and asked for a lawyer. At the residence where Garcia was arrested, officers found two handguns.
Garcia has already been arrested and released on his own recognizance. He has an initial hearing at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, in Kosciusko Superior Court One.
