Area Firefighters Respond To Potential Structure Fire West Of Milford

HASTINGS — Multiple area fire departments were called to assist in a possible chicken barn structure fire just after noon Wednesday, Sept. 27, in a rural area 4 miles west of Milford. The call initially went out to Milford Fire Department, which requested assistance from both Nappanee and Plain Township.
The structure, located at 4719 W 1050N, was approximately 75 yards down a dirt lane from the road,. A tanker and truck from Milford navigated the winding path while other units, including an ambulance from Lutheran Kosciusko, were stationed on the road outside the driveway.
The cause for concern appeared to be in the attic above the chicken coop. Firefighters from all three responding departments worked to release the smoldering debris from the upper level to the main floor below. No flames were apparent at the scene and it did not appear that any animals were harmed or in danger.

Multiple agencies responded to a possible structure fire on CR 1050N in Hastings.
