Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 3:47 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, North CR 175E, south of East CR 175N, Warsaw. Driver: Kevin B. Horn, 68, Chapman Lake Drive, Warsaw. Horn was attempting to turn onto East CR 175N when he saw another vehicle in his path of travel. This resulted in Horn laying down his motorcycle to avoid a collision. Horn was taken to Parkview Hospital in Warsaw for injuries to his head and left side. Damage up to $10,000.
- 9:19 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, West US 30, west of North CR 700W, Warsaw. Driver: Phillip K. Jordan, 51, Gateman Street, Portage. Jordan’s vehicle hit a deer. Damage up to $10,000.
- 4:35 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, West Warren Drive, south of North Penny Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Lauren E. Wyss, 28, Leedy Street, Warsaw; and Richard L. Summers, 69, West Warren Drive, Warsaw. Wyss was backing her vehicle from a driveway when she hit Summers’. Damage up to $2,500.
- 2:03 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, West US 30, near North CR 500W, Warsaw. Drivers: Jordyn T. Truex, 20, West CR 200N, Warsaw; and Chad R. Abair, 36, Greenlawn Drive, Plymouth. Truex was attempting to cross US 30 when she hit Abair’s vehicle. Abair was taken to Lutheran Fort Wayne for general pain. A passenger in Abair’s vehicle, Cara F. Abair, 34, Plymouth, complained of knee pain but was not taken to a hospital. Damage up to $50,000.
- 1:10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, East CR 500N, near North CR 400E, Warsaw. Drivers: Trey T. Theard, 18, Dupont Oaks Place, Fort Wayne; and Hollie A. Martin, 42, Rogowski Avenue, Michigan City. Theard stopped at the CR 200E and East CR 500N intersection, but thought the intersection was a four-way stop. While he attempted to cross the intersection, Theard’s vehicle hit Martin’s. Theard, Martin, and four passengers in Theard’s vehicle all complained of general pain. The passengers were Nicholas Butler, 16, Auburn; Angelo Rongos, 16, Auburn; Cole Hanas, 16, Auburn; and Carson M. Craft, 17, Mentone. Damage up to $25,000.
- 9:26 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, West CR 1350N, west of North SR 19, Nappanee. Driver: Connie S. Stutzman, 63, North SR 19, Nappanee. Stutzman was traveling north at the SR 19 and CR 1350N intersection when she hit a bicyclist. Stutzman said she thought she had the right-of-way. The bicyclist, Wilma P. Yoder, 82, Nappanee, complained of left leg pain. Yoder was taken to Elkhart General Hospital. Damage up to $5,000.
- 9:26 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, East CR 1200N, near East Bowser Road, Syracuse. Driver: Marty L. Slabaugh, 59, East CR 1100N, Milford. Slabaugh was driving a motorcycle when his vehicle left the roadway, hitting a fence gate. Slabaugh sustained cuts to his head and legs and was flown from the scene. Damage up to $5,000.
- 6:42 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, North Tucker Street, south of West Maple Street, Mentone. Drivers: Aleesa N. Marshall, 22, East CR 200N, Akron; and Holly J. Hamilton, 35, South Scott Street, South Bend. Marshall’s vehicle stopped at the Maple and Tucker Street stop sign, but hit Hamilton’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
- 4:26 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, North CR 175E, south of East 8 Square Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Christopher M. Borsa, 18, West Hoffer Road, Warsaw; and Richard D. Mylin, 60, North CR 175E, Warsaw. Borsa’s vehicle sideswiped Mylin’s. Damage up to $5,000.
- 3:52 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, West SR 25, east of South CR 1300W, Mentone. Drivers: Meriss E. Geldner, 53, 17C Road, Tippecanoe; and Dorine L. Ruff, 30, Northgate Circle, Rochester. Geldner’s vehicle rear-ended Ruff’s. Geldner complained of back and neck pain and was taken to Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital. Damage up to $50,000.
Pierceton
Officers with the Pierceton Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 8:49 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, East CR 100S, east of South CR 325E, Pierceton. Driver: Charnelson J. Junior Vil, 20, Kuder Lane, Warsaw. Junior Vil’s vehicle left the roadway and overturned. Damage up to $25,000.
- 7:33 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, US 30, near SR 13, Pierceton. Drivers: Kaleb T. Ballog, 26, East Mishawaka Avenue Apartment 1, Mishawaka; and Terri L. Grycza, 58, South CR 700W, Larwill. Ballog’s vehicle rear-ended Grycza’s. Damage under $750.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 11:32 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, 12166 N. Kern Road, Syracuse. Driver: Scott E. Abbs, 69, East Northshore Drive, Syracuse. Abbs was turning into a parking space when he hit a parked, unoccupied vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 4:53 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, SR 15, south of East Main Street, Warsaw. Drivers: James A. Barton, 25, North Denzel Drive, Syracuse; Josiah G. Jordan, 18, West CR 300N, Warsaw; and Gregory W. Addair, 22, East 3rd Street, North Manchester. Barton’s vehicle rear-ended Jordan’s, which resulted in Jordan’s vehicle rear-ending Addair’s. Damage up to $25,000.
- 6:32 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, East US 30, near North Parker Street, Warsaw. Driver: James E. Ballard, 63, Wildwood Avenue, Lansing, Ill. Ballard’s vehicle hit a deer. Damage up to $5,000.
- 8:05 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, North Lake Street, south of North Fox Farm Road, Warsaw. Driver: Joshua L. Gonzalez, 41, South Scott Street, Warsaw. Gonzalez’s vehicle hit a deer. Damage up to $5,000.
