Warsaw’s World Compassion Network Plans October Pickleball Tournament
News Release
WARSAW — World Compassion Network, a Warsaw-based disasters relief organization, is hosting a new local event to help raise funds for disaster relief.
The first World Compassion Network Pickleball Tournament will be held Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 7-8, at the Winona Lake Limitless Park. The tournament is endorsed by the town of Winona Lake as well as the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce and will be directed by Dawn Horan, ambassador at USA Pickleball.
Pickleball is a fast-growing sport in the U.S. and allows players of all ages and skill levels to participate. World Compassion Network’s goal is to engage the community in a fun, active event that will also help raise funds and awareness for its cause.
The pickleball tournament is the first fundraiser for World Compassion Network with the net funds going to support the network’s disaster relief efforts.
When the organization goes to a disaster site, it works through a local ministry to distribute relief supplies and provide volunteer work teams for clean-up efforts. World Compassion Network offers help and hope to people whose lives have been suddenly devastated by a catastrophic event, such as a tornado, hurricane, earthquake, etc.
World Compassion Network also provides hope and compassion to people suffering from poverty through its missions development program in Honduras. Through planting churches and working with local pastors, the network completes sustainability projects that give the poverty-stricken a hand up and introduce them to the Gospel.
The network also supports the local community through its annual Run for Hunger 5K, with net funds going to area churches and nonprofits fighting hunger in the community, and other projects to meet the needs of those in poverty.
Volunteers are welcome to join World Compassion Network, which is a nondenominational U.S. registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization based in Warsaw.
