Improvements Should Be Arriving At South Bend Airport
Staff Report
SOUTH BEND — Improvements to the tune of $7.4 million should be arriving at the South Bend International Airport terminal.
The Indiana General Assembly last spring approved project funding in the state budget, and the money now has passed through the State Budget Committee.
According to the agenda from the Sept. 15 budget committee meeting, the money will be used for the expansion and renovation of the front terminal. Renovations are expected to cover 800 feet used for passenger drop-off and pickup and general ground transportation. The project also will include the addition of canopies on both sides of the terminal, renovation to raised crossed walks, the addition of a brick and stone veneer, replacement of front exterior windows and updated landscaping. The project will include both state and local funding.
