Miles E. Hoffman — UPDATED
Miles Eugene Hoffman, age 81, of Silver Lake, died at 5:54 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2023, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

He was born Dec. 16, 1941, to Howard and Mary (Whetstone) Hoffman, in Warsaw, where he grew up on a farm.
He attended and graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1960 where he was a top star, playing on the basketball team known as the “Ramblers.”
Miles married Pat Kuhn on June 15,1963, in Akron, and lived in the Silver Lake community for 43 years. He worked 42 years for the Indiana Department of Transportation as a project supervisor in the Fort Wayne District and retired in 2003.
Miles was a member of the Beaver Dam Community Church near Akron. He was an avid collector of John Deere tractors and his favorite pastime was playing euchre with anyone who was willing to play with him. His classmates were very important to him and would meet with them every year and sometimes in between. Miles also liked the coffee club that he joined and met mostly in Silver Lake. He enjoyed going and watching all of his kids’ and grandkids’ sporting events. Miles enjoyed mowing the yard and was a perfectionist in everything that he did.
Surviving Miles is his wife, Pat Hoffman, of Silver Lake; his son: Troy (spouse Sue), of Silver Lake; his daughter-in-law, Jessica Hoffman, of Silver Lake; five grandchildren, Chelsea (spouse Brad) Brubaker, Jade Hoffman, Noah Hoffman, Jacob Hoffman and Brandon Hoffman; and three great-grandchildren, Raegan, Easton and Jaxx
Preceding Miles in death were his parents; and a son, Brent Hoffman, in 2019.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, at the Earl-Love Funeral Home, 811 E. Rochester St., Akron. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 18, at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Robert Jarboe, assisted by Pastor Butch Troke, with burial in the Akron IOOF Cemetery, Akron.
