WARSAW — A Warsaw man was recently arrested for allegedly battering a woman.

Ian Robert Leake, 26, 707 E. Center St. Apartment 10, Warsaw, is charged with domestic battery with a child under 16 present and strangulation, both level 6 felonies.

On Sept. 7, a Warsaw Police officer responded to a 911 hangup at a residence. Upon arrival, the officer saw a woman with fresh red marks on her face and neck area.

According to court documents, the woman said Leake grabbed her face and squeezed it. Leake also placed his elbow on the woman’s neck. A child was present during the altercation.

The woman also showed the officer a fresh red and purple mark she had on the right side of her torso.

Leake denied a physical altercation occurring and said the woman scratched him, but that he did not want to get her in trouble.

Leake was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Sept. 7, with a $6,000 surety and cash bond.
