On Sept. 9, an Indiana State Police trooper was near Atwood when he noticed a vehicle cross the fog line of the roadway about 10 to 15 times. The trooper pulled the vehicle over and identified its driver as Lewis and front seat passenger as Crace. Both Lewis and Crace appeared very nervous.
According to court documents, Lewis told the trooper there was fentanyl and some ounces of meth in the vehicle. She admitted to purchasing meth in South Bend and dropping the drugs off. Lewis also said Crace dealt meth.
Upon searching the vehicle, officers found 55.8 grams of meth, 15 grams of fentanyl, and 0.1 gram of heroin.
Crace also said they went to South Bend to buy meth and that Lewis had the fentanyl prior to the meth purchase. Officers found eight fentanyl pills on Crace’s person.
Lewis was previously convicted of dealing in a controlled substance in 2012 in Kosciusko County.
Crace is currently under a pretrial diversion in Kosciusko County for narcotic, syringe, and marijuana possession.
Crace and Lewis were both booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Sept. 9.
