WARSAW — A Warsaw man was recently arrested for allegedly battering and threatening a pregnant woman.
Tardarious Deshay Holden, 27, 420 N. Roosevelt St. Apartment 5, Warsaw, is charged with domestic battery to a pregnant woman and intimidation with a deadly weapon, both level 5 felonies; strangulation and domestic battery with a child under 16 present, both level 6 felonies; and pointing a firearm, a class A misdemeanor.
On Sept. 6, a Warsaw Police officer took a domestic battery report at a local hospital. A woman said she had a verbal argument, which escalated to a physical altercation, with Holden on Sept. 4. The woman also said she was four months pregnant.
According to court documents, the woman said she was trying to retrieve a child from Holden when Holden hit the left side of her face.
Holden then hit the woman’s entire body and caused the inside of her lower lip to split open and actively bleed. He also put his knee on the woman’s stomach and placed his hand around her neck until the woman’s eyes rolled back into her head.
Holden also allegedly twisted the woman’s left arm behind her back and threatened to kill her. At one point, Holden grabbed a handgun, pointed it at the woman’s head, and made threats.
On Sept. 5, Holden forced the woman to call off work and the woman felt like she could not leave.
The woman said she was able to leave on Sept. 6 with the child while Holden slept.
Officers noticed bruising on the woman’s arm and a laceration to her lower lip.
Holden was interviewed by law enforcement on Sept. 6. He said he hit the woman with the palm of his hand and “authoritatively” pressed her down. Holden also said he was aware the woman was pregnant and denied threatening to kill the woman during the incident.
Holden was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Sept. 6.
