More Details Released On Drug Investigation Involving Leesburg Man

LEESBURG — More details have been released on a drug investigation involving a Leesburg man.
John Clay Heeter, 50, 14 EMS B3B Lane, Leesburg, is charged with dealing in methamphetamine, a level 2 felony; possession of methamphetamine, a level 3 felony; possession of cocaine, possession of a syringe, dealing in marijuana in an amount in excess of 30 grams, and maintaining a common nuisance, all level 6 felonies; possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana with a prior conviction, both class A misdemeanors; possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.
On Aug. 31, an Indiana State Police trooper obtained a search warrant for Heeter’s home after receiving information about Heeter dealing a large amount of drugs from his residence.
Law enforcement served the warrant on Sept. 5. According to court documents, upon arrival at the scene, officers found three men on the residence’s back porch, one of which being Heeter.
In the home, officers found marijuana, drug paraphernalia, syringes, nine boxes containing THC, and multiple bags containing meth. They also found two pills identified as a controlled substance, 0.1 gram of cocaine, and $1,200 in US currency.
The meth had a total weight of 123 grams and the marijuana had a weight of 75.4 grams.
Heeter told law enforcement he dealt eight ounces of meth a week and had been doing so for eight months. He also said he and one of the men officers found on the porch were smoking marijuana prior to the search.
Heeter has prior convictions for cocaine possession, operating while intoxicated with a controlled substance in the body, and marijuana possession.
Heeter was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Sept. 5.
