Indiana Landmarks Announces 2023 ‘Top 10 Most Endangered’ List

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Landmarks on Tuesday, Aug. 22, published their annual list of the Top 10 Most Endangered landmarks throughout Indiana. The landmarks that landed on the list face a slew of problems, including abandonment, neglect, and lack of money for repairs.
The 2023 list is comprised of five new landmarks and five repeats from last year’s list. 153 landmarks have been included on the annual list. The organization reports 101 places have been restored or are no longer considered “endangered” and only 20 have been demolished.
Top 10 Most Endangered Indiana Landmarks:
- Historic Fraternal Lodges, statewide
- International Harvester Engineering Building, Fort Wayne
- Thomas and Louisa Little House, Plainfield
- Starr Historic District, Richmond
- State Theatre, Anderson
- Birdsell Mansion, South Bend
- First Friends Church, Marion
- Hulman Building and Garage, Evansville
- Knox County Poor Asylum, Vincennes
- Stinesville Commercial Buildings, Stinesville
