WARSAW — Two people were recently arrested after providing state police with false names.
Iesha R. Phillips, 27, Streator, Ill., is charged with assisting a criminal, a level 6 felony; and false informing, a class B misdemeanor.
Brad Norris Jr., 24, Chicago, Ill., is charged with false informing, a class B misdemeanor.
On May 7, an Indiana State Police trooper was on US 30 near Warsaw when he noticed a speeding vehicle and pulled it over.
According to court documents, the vehicle’s driver, later identified as Norris, said he did not have any identification on him. He provided the trooper with a false name. A passenger in his vehicle, later identified as Phillips, did the same and also said the driver was not Norris.
After the trooper could not find any information on Norris, the trooper arrested Norris for false informing. When Norris provided the trooper with his real name, the trooper learned Norris had an active warrant at the Illinois Department of Corrections for a probation violation. The original charges stemming from that case are obstruction of police, assault, and aggravated assault with an unloaded weapon.
Phillips was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Aug. 15, and Norris was booked on Aug. 16.
