Charles J. ‘Chuck’ Pletcher — UPDATED
Charles J. “Chuck” Pletcher, 86, rural Etna Green, passed away from this life into eternity at 8:28 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, 2023, at Stillwater Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
Chuck was born on Jan. 23, 1937, in Monterey to the late Charles F. And Mertie (Woodcox) Pletcher. On March 28, 1970, in Warsaw, he married Kristine Spurlock. She survives.
He served for more than 30 years as a janitor. He worked in Reno, Nev., for more than eight years, and locally was the Tippecanoe Valley High School janitor for 16 years.
Chuck attended First Christian Church of Warsaw for many years. He enjoyed going to church and loved to spend time with his family. Chuck also enjoyed tractors, motorcycles, especially rides on the Gold Wing, and drinking coffee with friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Kris, Etna Green; daughters Pam Yungandreas, Bremen, and Sally Pletcher, Warsaw; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; mother-in-law Elizabeth Spurlock; a daughter-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; son Dennis Pletcher; a grandson, Johny Yungandreas; brothers Lester White and Edison and his wife Mable White; father-in-law Vernon Spurlock; sister-in-law Robin Briggs; brother-in-law Bill Spurlock; and a niece, Donna.
Memorial visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, 2023, at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone. A graveside service will then take place following the visitation on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2023, in the Mentone Cemetery with Pastor Matthew Rogers officiating.
