WARSAW — It’s August and that means for many kids it’s time to head back to school. The first days of back to school can truly set the stage for the entire school year with students. With many kids returning to the classroom, they may be experiencing a whole new level of jitters and excitement. And what better way to get them amped up (in a good way) for a new school year than with books?
Check out these back-to-school books available at the Warsaw Community Public Library to get your kids ready for an epic return to the classroom.
“The Crayons Go Back to School” by Drew Daywalt is a humorous, back-to-school story from everyone’s favorite school supplies.
Next is “Ways to Make Friends” by Jairo Buitrago. It’s a hilarious and insightful guide to making new friends. It’s a heartfelt read for kids who are starting school or experiencing other unfamiliar social situations. “Ways to Make Friends” will give them the courage to stand on their own.
“Back to School With Bigfoot” by Samantha Berger deftly tackles the worries kids face as that first day of school draws closer. Told from Bigfoot’s point of view and how a new school year can be hard even if you’re 7 feet tall.
“Llama Llama Back to School” by Anna Dewdney deals with Llama not being ready for summertime to end. It’s been full of fun. All he wants is for summer to go on forever. When he becomes anxious about the first day of school, he receives help from Mama Llama as well as his friends. He realizes going back to school will be fun after all.
“Back to School Rules” by Laurie B. Friedman. When it comes to surviving school, Percy’s at the head of the class. If you can follow his 10 simple rules, making the grade will be a piece of cake. But there’s more to school than showing up on time and staying awake in class. If you have any doubts, Percy also shows exactly what not to do. No spitballs, no running in the halls, no bouncing off the ceiling and no crazy scheming.
“Splat the Cat, Back to School, Splat!” by Lara Bergen is a funny back-to-school story. Splat the Cat is asked to share one of his summer adventures with the class on the first day of school. Which adventure will Splat choose to share with his class?
