WARSAW — A Warsaw teenager was recently arrested for allegedly forging customers’ receipts at Buffalo Wild Wings while she worked there as a waitress.
Tiphanie Autumn-Paige Nichter, 19, 203 Leedy St., Warsaw, is charged with six counts of forgery, all level 6 felonies; and six counts of theft, all class A misdemeanors.
On June 30, a Warsaw Police officer responded to a theft report at Buffalo Wild Wings. The restaurant’s regional manager said Nichter was forging receipts to increase tip amounts she received from customers. The manager provided the officer with receipts for 37 individuals who dined at the restaurant and had checks which were altered by Nichter after they had been signed.
According to court documents, Nichter received about $300 in tips which were wrongfully taken from customers without their consent.
The officer spoke with six customers who all said extra tip money was charged to them without their consent.
Nichter spoke with a Warsaw detective on July 1 about the thefts. In the interview, she admitted to stealing money from customers by adding extra money to tip lines. Nichter said she added anywhere from $5 to $10 for each customer. She told the detective she has impulses to steal and just does it without even thinking about it.
Nichter is on pretrial release and under a pretrial diversion agreement for theft in Kosciusko County.
Nichter was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Aug. 10, with a $20,250 surety and cash bond.
