WARSAW — A Warsaw man was recently arrested for allegedly not allowing a woman and child to leave a residence.
Scott Alan Pelfrey, 55, 1692 E. 200N Lot 164B, Warsaw, is charged with criminal confinement, a level 6 felony; and resisting law enforcement and intimidation, both class A misdemeanors.
According to court documents, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a domestic dispute in Warsaw. Upon arrival, the deputy witnessed Pelfrey arguing with a woman next to a vehicle containing a child. The deputy attempted to separate the parties to get each of their stories; however, Pelfrey became increasingly belligerent, keeping his hands hidden from the deputy.
When told to calm down by the deputy two separate times, and to step away from the vehicle or be handcuffed, Pelfrey yelled at the deputy. The officer then told Pelfrey to put his hands behind his back and Pelfrey refused to do so. He proceeded to resist arrest, pulling his hands away and tensing his arms. A Warsaw Police officer had to assist the investigating deputy in arresting Pelfrey.
The woman at the scene said she was arguing with Pelfrey at a residence when Pelfrey grabbed the door handle, using his body to bar her and the child from leaving. The woman said that Pelfrey threatened to follow them if they left and cause chaos wherever they went.
Pelfrey was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on July 13, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
